I can buy my Satisfaction.
The times in which satisfaction was not even an issue are over.
Satisfaction: the most significant accumulation of letters in the consumer’s society. Satisfaction: the key word of the modern epoch in which the ruling species, the king of the jungle, is Homo Economicus. The image of Homo Sapiens? Just a mere souvenir of prehistoric civilizations. The world is sorry, but ready to inform you that curiosity, instinct and dreams are dead. Welcome brainiac, this is the Wall Street Era, and yes, nobody understands what the fuck is going on. Nod heads and shake hands and everything is going to be alright. Ancient values have been replaced by the I-Pod generation. Young, smart and dangerous kids creating dynamic and excited armies ready to conquer the world with a banknote of 5 euros. In this crucible of contradictions how does society reach satisfaction? Trapped like a mouse in the economy cage, the survival of the fittest is the only thing that really matters. The fittest is not the stronger, the fittest is the richer. What happens is that the more materially spoiled we are, the less satisfied we then feel. Consequently, we launch ourselves in the field of a civil war between citizens and governments, in which the word “crisis” is perceived as the true enemy in common. “Crisis” the impeding factor to illusionary Satisfaction. Legal tenders instead of emotions is this really what is all about? We are catapulted into a geological time in which mountains of intangible money are dividing the world. How much time is it going to take to complete this cycle of regularly repeating phenomenon of El Dorado? No answer, but let’s fight! If you win you can buy Satisfaction.
This is a period marked by a distinctive character; the desire of material wealth in order to achieve satisfaction. What is the result of this longing for what you can buy? Prostitution because I can buy love, Crime because I want but I can’t, Shopping Maniacs because the more you buy the more you are. Of course the sin is not to have money, it is the way we tend to use it. Our lives depend on Money, fair enough, but how is it possible that our lives Have to depend on money. How is it possible that if we don’t have a lot of money we feel that we just can’t live in a Western modern society? This may sound quite fundamentalistic but think about it, some people use money just as a mean of being recognized. The amount of money they have, constantly shapes their lives. Satisfaction is not a consequence of what they do with it, satisfaction is Money . Danger, keep out! The God of Universal Bank is punishing us and we deserve it. Sinners of the modern age always wanting what we don’t have and never thinking of what we do have. We opened the gates to a vicious circle in which the more we have, the more we want to create. After trampling on Divine’s Creation let’s leave the red carpet to Progress’ creation.
Progress is certainly one of the main allies of Satisfaction. In cities of microwaves, Blackberries, and I-Phones there is little space for nature and above all human nature. The eternal bellic confrontation between the natural world and the robotic one is put to an end. The result? Nature defeated and submitted. The son, progress, killed intentionally Mother Nature. Being Progress a powerful but foolish soldier, after having destroyed its actual native source, it is now trying, through a series of brave measures, to save the little part that can still be saved. However, if an Apocalypse’s preview is going to take place soon, it is because it is known that every decision has its consequences, every consequence can be predicted, but our lazy souls prefer to be blind than to be conscious of the earth’s conversion from Garden of Eden to polluted dump. We reached this catastrophic situation, because it is catastrophic even if after admitting it we don’t want to think about it, because of a distorted conception of time. Discussions on Global Warming, on radiation, on deforestation and so on, have been carried out since the shining half of the 20th century but we always thought that time was going to be on our side. Instead of acting we just stood still waiting for something to happen, watching the sacrificial deterioration of our world in the name of a hint of provisional Satisfaction.
Talking about provisional Satisfaction it is necessary to point out that few of us are satisfied on the long term. Our society is totally based on continuously selling the illusion of being satisfied. Let the consumer buy what you want him to buy until a new product is unloaded on the abyss of the world markets. Once the new product is available let the consumer think that the old one cannot, and does not satisfy him and let him BUY BUY BUY. This process create a series of frustrations all through out society. As if we are not actually able to Buy, our consumers forma mentis and philosophy of life, immediately sends us a message of failure, of disgust, of “the neighbor’s grass is always greener”. This state of mind burst out from the intrinsically constant competition in our every day life. As a result, the bond between money and satisfaction becomes even more essential. Is what you have and not what you are that counts, and the more you have the more satisfied with what you are you can be.
As a conclusion I would like to say that the fact of having money is not condemned, as money is used as a mean of exchange of goods and is surely the fuel of our society but also the blood of our society. What I condemn is when money becomes so important that it is used to show what a person is. When people zoom on bank accounts rather than on personalities. I’ll pay whatever the world wants to change this.

Right On Bibbi. Welcome to Hubpages, I look forward to more of your Hubs.
Many are beginning to get this point in America. You speak of the same change I personally desire. I have been here for 50 years and I have seen many changes. I remember the day when most homes in America had a front porch. Neighbors would meet on these porches and tell old stories, play music and sing. Well, the porches disappeared, the stories stopped and the music no longer played.
In the short time I have been here I seen a drastic change in Churches. Back in the not so distant past the focus from the Pulpit was directed on the need for strong unity between community and family. It was common to see everyone helping others and getting involved in the lives of others. I watched as this all changed, the Preachers began buying bigger homes, more expensive cars, they began taking more days off and even canceling some services. Off they went in their big fancy Boats. The congregations soon caught the Preachers illness and it spread throughout most Churches. God was replaced with Goods, Jesus was replaced with Pleaseus, and Communion was replaced with Consumption.
